An updated model with a design based on the concept of the "New Edge", appeared in 1999. Most smooth lines available to 94-98 model years are gone, but the Mustang is still based on the platform of the SN-95. Power GT-versions was increased to 260 HP (194 kW) at 5250 rpm and torque is up to 409 NM at 4000 RPM due to the use of the new "Power Improved" (PI) cylinder heads, Camshafts and intake manifold. New 16-valve, 4.6-liter engine became somewhat more powerful engines used in 1996-1998. Mustang fuel line has got constant pressure using a pressure sensor PCM related fuel. now the Mustang GT overcame a 14 quarter with small seconds at the finish line, with a speed of 96 + mph (compared to GT \ ' 1998 — 14.5 seconds at 93-95 mph).
